We were all so blessed last night. Santa was beyond awesome. The kids were so blessed. The twins and their sister had not met Santa before and it was a great experience for their first time. It is Santa buzz at work today, it is amazing how spending a little time with Santa can sure bring back memories for us older folks and build memories for the future. And all the memories are an experience that is attached to a story or 2. Fun, Fun - You guys are such a blessing and [Santa] was so great with all of the kids, young and old (55 was the oldest).

Thank you again,

from Andrea:

Hi Marian! I just wanted to let you know what a great time we all had at the theater class performance Thursday night! All of the kids were so great...there were a lot of talented kids in that class! Clover had a ball...

from Clover Ridge Elementary:

The children who have watched cwerks productions came back to class ready to perform their own play. We were inspired to create and perform stories that were old time favorites. The children realized that with only a little bit of costuming they could become a whole new character. What a good way to become enchanted with books and oral stories.

Thank you for coming to our school and inspiring the children to a love of acting out literature.

Clover Ridge teacher, retired now :-)

from North Albany Elementary School, Albany, Oregon:

I just wanted to take a minute to write and thank CWERKS for the work you do with children’s theater. We recently had the pleasure of hosting the CWERKS production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” as a part of the Albany Parks and Recreation Department’s, “Children’s Performing Arts Series”.
We found the production to be an excellent choice for elementary school audiences and an awesome experience for our students. The presentation was wonderful and the inclusion of students from the audience, in the actions of the play was a great touch. Our kids are still talking about the play 5 days after the performance.
We include at least 2 live performance assemblies per year for our students and count on these activities as great teaching tools and cultural experiences for our kids. CWERKS met all of our expectations for quality and appropriateness, we look forward to having you back in the future.

Sincerely,
Ric Blasquez, Principal
On Behalf of the Staff and Children of North Albany Elementary School

from Tualatin Public Library, Tualatin, Oregon:

Cwerks performed “Puss in Boots” for us at the Tualatin Public Library on January 25th, 2003. The response was very positive from both library staff and patrons. They engaged with the audience, young and old. They had everything from elaborate costumes to funny props to add to the story.
Before the program, Marian took a few moments to pull library books on costumes, plays, and acting for young people. Towards the end of the program she held up the books and encouraged everyone to be creative, rehearse your favorite story, and to read, read, read!
We have had Cwerks perform at our library several times, and each time has been successful. they are professional, fun, and funny performers who make books and stories come alive! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Sincerely,
Julie Wickman

from Albany Parks & Recreation, Albany, Oregon:

Thank you for coming and performing for the elementary students as well as for the families at Linn-Benton Community College. Your performance of Jack & the Beanstalk was one of a kind. Your interaction with the children was wonderful as you kept them involved throughout the performance.

from Concordia Lutheran School, Keizer, Oregon:

Concordia Lutheran School has had the privilege of enjoying three different and exciting performances by CWERKS thespians Marian and Christopher Scadden. Their performances are always delightful fun and educational. We can’t wait until they can come again!

from Head Start of Yamhill County, McMinnville, Oregon:

This letter goes out to early childhood educators, as a recommendation to invite the cwerks children interactive theater to your school. I have been a preschool teacher for the past 15 years. At present I am working as lead teacher for Head Start of Yamhill county. So many of the children in my classroom are high risk high needs children. Their need for confidence building is great, and opportunities to participate in something like interactive theater is rare for these children. When my co-workers and I heard about the theater our interest was sparked, we talked with Christopher Scadden about the theater visiting our school, and it was arranged.
Cwerks came to our school around the first part of May and created an interest that was expanded on for the rest of the school year. Cwerks presented the play Jack and the Bean Stalk. The children that participated in the play were so charged by the experience that we expanded on it by providing props in the dramatic play area. The children took turns acting out the different characters and found new ways to work cooperatively and constructively with each other.
In this day and age where our schools are experiencing budget cuts that effect the arts and theater I believe that having cwerks visit our school was money well spent. Ask your school and co workers to support this most empowering and positive experience for your children. I know we will be inviting them back next year.
        Thank you cwerks

Sincerely,
Early childhood educator

Well, the reunion is over, and the "Wakt Family Reunion" was a big hit! It was VERY minimally staged, and rehearsed, but so much fun!

from Jolie, West Salem High School (for The Talking Mime)

Just wanted to tell you thanks again for your presentation at our prom! It was such fun to see you [guys] interact with the guests. I heard several groups of kids talk about the "cool" stuff happening at the prom....and the mime act was included in their high points!

from Jennifer (singing telegram)

I wanted to say thank you for everything. The pirate singing telegram was great. I will recommend your company to everyone. We loved the way he ad libbed and added all the personal information to his skit. Our bride to be said she hadn't laughed or smiled so much in a long time. Thanks again!!

We will be smiling over that for quite some time and the b-day boy was much pleased...Thank you so much for coming such a long way just to bring us all smiles. It is a b-day that Jon says he will never forget. Thank you for helping us show him that we love him!

from Sue, CASHTOOLS, Inc. (“Pigs, Pineapple and Poison”)

Thank you for the wonderful fun on the Willamette Queen. I really enjoyed it. I have always wanted to [attend] a murder mystery. You did a fantastic job!

I really appreciate it!

from Laura, WISHWEAVERS, LLC (“Pigs, Pineapple and Poison”)

Marian, the Murder Mystery today on board the Willamette Queen Sternwheeler was an absolute hoot! As I was describing to my husband how audience members would respond to cues (when one group or person heard a certain cue, they’d yell out “Hear, Hear!”, “It’s Perfect!”, “He’s Dead!” or sing “Tiny Bubbles”) we both started cracking up, just from my husband hearing me describe it. What a fun event! Thank you. I’m very impressed with the scripts you and Chris have written. I look forward to being on your e-mail list so I can keep posted on all future entertainment from Cwerks. Next time, I’ll bring my husband! Thanks again.

from Karen, Mid-Valley Arts Council (“The Talking Mime”)

The program worked out amazingly well. You did a GREAT job! I loved your [mime] piece, very cool.

from Judi (singing telegram)

I want to let you know how very much we enjoyed our singing telegram plus last night. I don’t remember the lady’s name that came, but oh my gosh, she was great! She used all the tidbits of information I gave her in the skit...It was great to know beforehand that all your performances are G rated even when kids aren’t there. You can be assured that we will pass the word around about Cwerks...Your talents for adlib are truly a gift. Thank you for the opportunity of sharing it!

Sincerely,
Judi

from Sternwheeler Excursions, LLC (ten years of monthly mysteries)

We want to let you know how thrilled we have been with our monthly Murder Mystery shows you have been writing and performing aboard the Willamette Queen.
The calls keep coming in from people wanting to know when our next performance is scheduled. We get calls months in advance to book dinners on nights you are doing a play.
Once our guests have enjoyed your show, they want to tell their family and friends. We’ve seen some people return for more than one performance. that is a true indication of how much they are enjoying themselves.
We look forward to many many more months of continued performances from your theatre group during our dinner cruises.

Sincerely,
Richard and Barbara Chesbrough
